A Day In The Life of an Amazon.com CR Trainee

It's an early wake up call and you serve yourself coffee to help you make the waking up process easier while looking at your watch and wondering if your 15 minutes are up. You shower and get ready for work and on the way to your car or buss you swipe your badge unconsciously at as many doors as you can. You put on your headphones and put on music to help you relax but instead of hearing the lyrics you hear blurbs, references, policies and the phone intro and closing in your head. The bus beeps when a random stranger asks for a stop, your radio beeps when you turn it on or change the station or just random cars beep on the street while trying to make their way through the crowded highways and all you can potentially think of is the beeping noises the doors make at work.

You finally make it to work and outside you can see your coworkers which lets you know that they are on the same boat as you are and understand everything you are going through and what information your brain holds. You let out a sigh of relief because you are not alone. You say hello to everyone and ask: "so did you guys also try to--?" and they all immediately answer: "Yes, for the past two weeks and I still do it..." You don't even have to ask any questions because you'll interrupt one another with the exact answer. You go to class and get so much information crammed into your brain that you don't even realize when your autopilot was turned on. It's not like you weren't paying attention but everything starts making so much sense that it's pretty self-explanatory after a while. Your autopilot eventually gets turned off at random times by jokes your coworkers throw around making the place feel like home. During your breaks and lunch, you chill with amazing friends, gossip with a cigarette in hand. You continue talks about how the night doesn't seem long enough anymore and Amazon.com CR is really starting to feel like your second home. Not necessarily you enjoy the weather since it's been acting up but enjoying time together nonetheless. You make jokes about daily life issues and let your Spanglish roll to the max. You eat your food while watching "Friends" on the plasma TV and realize that you fit in.

Training for the day ends and you can't believe you're telling yourself "Really? The day is over? That fast? Why?" You decide to go out with your coworkers and have some fun, relax and enjoy each others company. You throw jokes here and there and make fun of each other on ironic instances. You laugh at how one of the guys got asked if he was eating styrofoam (which was hilarious even if he didn't think so), how the trainer started laughing at the jokes the black hair anime looking guy says, at the confusions that formed just because we all think we knew but really had no idea, at the times we all started laughing so hard that it carried for ten minutes or more, at the many incredible memories that took place in only two weeks and would take forever to recall.

On your way home the entire process that happened in the morning happens again but three times as much because your memory is fresh. You get home, do what you need to do and get ready for bed. And as you lay in bed you recall how exhausted you are because you went out and had fun, you worked hard and made so many memories. That's when you finally understand that you are really meant to work there because you did exactly everything Jeff Bezos meant for you to do. You work for Amazon.com CR. You worked hard. You had fun. You made history. And tomorrow it starts again and at the end of the day... You're done!
